Hawaii engineers group to observe moment of silence tomorrow

The Hawaii Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers will observe a silent moment of tribute tomorrow in honor of Workers Memorial Day.

U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis is scheduled tomorrow to commemorate men and women who lost their lives on the job during the groundbreaking ceremony for a National Labor College in Silver Spring, Md.

ASSE Hawaii also joins the Hawaii AFL-CIO, the Hawaii Injured Workers Alliance, and the Pacific Resource Partnership with observing the solemn day of reflection to make a recommitment with making our workplaces a safer place to earn a living.

"On this solemn day of reflection, the Hawaii Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers ask all workers, employers, and our island community to remember the working men and women, in Hawaii and across the nation, who have been killed or injured from workplace accidents and illnesses" said Hawaii ASSE Chapter President Neil Yamamoto.
