WAIMALU
H-1 eastbound lane closures will continue for 6-8 months

Three lanes of H-1 Freeway eastbound between the Wai'awa Overpass and the Waimalu Interchange will continue to close from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. nightly this week, and for the next six to eight months, to allow the Department of Transportation to conduct deck repairs.

Two lanes will remain open during construction but there will be periods when the speed limit will be lowered to 15 mph.

The $7 million project is the first major overhaul of the Pearl City Viaduct since it was constructed in 1969.

Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work area and to allow for extra travel time. Roadwork is weather-permitting.
