Honolulu firefighters contained a five-acre brush fire that came within a few hundred feet of homes along Maipalaoa Road yesterday.

No structures were damaged, however, and no one was injured, said HFD Capt. Terry Seelig.

The blaze was reported near Mamoalii Place around 1 p.m. and contained by firefighters at 3:20 p.m., Seelig said. Fire officials deployed three engines, three tankers and the department's Air 1 helicopter.
