Advertiser Staff

A memorial service for Hawai'i Pacific University's Board of Trustees Chairman William E. Aull will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Cathedral.

Aull, who had been chairman of the university's board since 1987, died April 24.

Aull joined the HPU board in 1975 when the university was Hawai'i Pacific College and had an enrollment of about 50 students.

From 1956 to 1985 he worked for Hawaiian Trust Co., starting as a tax clerk and eventually serving as vice president, executive vice president and president and CEO.

After retirement, Aull served on numerous community and foundation boards including the Harold K. L. Castle Foundation, 'Iolani School, Mid-Pacific Institute, Strong Foundation, YMCA of Honolulu and the Oceanic Institute.

Aull is survived by his wife, Dawn; sons, David and John; daughters, Lisa Martin, Shelley Hewitt, and Gwen Elizabeth "Wendy" Aull, and nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Aull's name to Hawai'i Pacific University, 'Iolani School or Mid-Pacific Institute.
