Hawaii weather: Sunny today, showers tonight

Advertiser Staff

Light north to northeast winds will continue to keep a cool air mass over the islands through Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

Clouds, and a few light showers, will move over windward and north-facing slopes and shores, with a slight increase in showers expected tonight, forecasters said.

On Friday, and into the weekend, winds will veer to the east and remain light. The air mass over the islands will warm and dry, so expect lots of sunshine, and limited windward rainfall, from Friday through the weekend, and into next week.

Here's how the rest of the work week looks at this point:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. North wind around 8 mph.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. North wind around 8 mph.

Thursday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81. East wind around 8 mph.

Friday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
