A female pedestrian was killed this morning when she was hit by an E Noa Tours bus in Waimanalo.

She was identified by neighbors as Ilima Cook.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's emergency services department, said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:45 a.m.

The collision occurred at the 41-1000 block of Kalanianaole Highway.

The woman did not appear to be in a crosswalk. Police said the bus driver and the woman made eye contact before the collision, but the woman still stepped onto the highway.

A portion of Kalanianaole between Ehukai and Aloiloi streets was closed for several hours but has since been reopened.

There were 30 passengers on the tour bus. A second company bus picked up the passengers.
