Maui teams clean up at state Student Auto Skills contest

Maui teams took the top four places in the Hawai'i finals of the 2009 Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition on Saturday.

Maui High's Edler Espiritu, 17, and Chester Coloma, 18, are state champions and will compete at the national championship in Dearborn, Mich. Their instructor is Shannon Rowe.

Lahainaluna High's Dean Badua and Jonathan Agapay, coached by Dennis Sasai, finished second; the Maui High team of Mark Evangelista and John Garcia, coached by Neill Nakamura, was third. King Kekaulike High's Michael Kinores and Russ Shibuya, coached by Dave Masters, finished fourth.
