Hawaii weather: Sunny today, a few showers tonight

Today' s light to moderate northeast winds will become easterly on Friday, and southeasterly by Sunday, the National Weather Service said.

Winds will remain light enough to allow local land and sea breezes to develop, especially over leeward areas, accordinig to the forecast.

While the light trade winds will bring clouds to windward slopes, and afternoon sea breezes will allow some interior and leeward cloudiness to develop, the atmosphere will continue to be dry and stable, and rainfall will be very limited, forecasters said.

The southeast winds will bring vog from the Big Island over the smaller islands from Sunday into early next week.

Here's how things look as we close out the work week and head for the weekend:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. North wind around 11 mph.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 82. East wind around 8 mph.

Friday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
