At the boys volleyball Red and White Conference championship matches at McKinley on May 7, canned good donations will be accepted in lieu of charged admission.

The White title match is scheduled for 5 p.m., with the Red championship match to follow.

The canned goods drive is part of the OIA's community service project.

HAWAI'I PREP NAMES HAYSLIP AS ITS NEW FOOTBALL COACH

Hawai'i Prep has named Jordan Hayslip as its football coach, replacing Geoy Purdy, who stepped down after four seasons at the helm.

Purdy's teams went 20-15 in Big Island Interscholastic Federation play.

Hayslip, who also is HPA's baseball coach, had been an assistant coach on the football staff for six seasons, the past two as defensive coordinator. He also has coaching experience at Amherst (Mass.) College.
