Hawaiian Canoe Club captures state championship

The girls 15 race gets under way at the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association State Championship Regatta today at Hilo Bay on the Big Island. The competition was spirited, as always.

Maui's Hawaiian Canoe Club won the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association State Championship at Hilo Bay today.

Hawaiian scored 355 points to finish ahead of Kai ‘Opua (295) and Kailua (293) in the AAAA Division for 21 or more crews. It was Hawaiian's eighth state championship in nine years after losing by three points in last year's meet.
Puna won the AAA (13-20 crews), Keaukaha the AA (7-12) and Napili the A (6-fewer) divisions.
Outrigger won the senior men's race while Waikiki Beach Boys won the senior women's race.
