The Hawai'i Forgiveness Project presents the seventh annual Forgiveness Day, from noon to 3 p.m. today at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa campus.

As part of the free celebration, three Heroes of Forgiveness will be honored: Mitsuo Aoki, caregiver to many in the "process" of dying; as well as Gwen Ka'ilihiwa and Bryan Yamashita, both of whom publicly forgave killers of their son and wife, respectively.

Three local forgiveness advocates (Hawaiian leader Betty Jenkins, the Rev. Sky St. John of Unity Church, and Buddhist meditation teacher Gregory Pai) will provide demonstrations on how to begin the process of forgiveness.

Also scheduled is a rare Hawaiian Manai Ai ceremony, and entertainment by the IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre and musician Owana Salazar.

The festival will be held at the Halau O Haumea, at the Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies, 2645 Dole St.

INTERFAITH DISCUSSION HAPPENS WEDNESDAY

"What is the duty of a person who is about to die?" will be explored in the next Interfaith Open Table discussion, 7 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Harris United Methodist Church.

Speaking will be Kusha devi dasi Kusha, board of director of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness Hawaii, who will share her experience as her father approached death.
