South shore surf will diminish in the afternoon, weather service says

A high-surf advisory remains in effect for south shores of all islands until 6 p.m.

Waves heights will be 4 to 8 feet this morning. The surf, but will drop below the advisory level this afternoon, the National Weather Service says.
Beachgoers are urged to heed warning signs and cautions from lifeguards.
