NBA: Report: Roy set for 5-year extension with Blazers

Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. — Brandon Roy has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Blazers planned a news conference with Roy on Thursday to announce the deal, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports that cited unidentified league sources.
The extension is expected to be worth between $78 million and $82 million, the report said.
Roy led the Blazers with 22.6 points and 5.1 assists per game last season, his third in the league. He was acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a draft-day trade for Randy Foye in 2006 and went on to win Rookie of the Year honors.
The high-scoring guard helped the Blazers go 54-28 last season before losing in the first round of the playoffs. Portland was 21-61 the year before Roy arrived.
