Kaulana Park named new Hawaiian Home Lands director

Advertiser Staff

Kaulana Park has been named to replace Micah Kane as director of the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and chairman of the Hawaiian Homes Commission.

Park has been deputy director of the agency since February 2008. Prior to that, he had coordinated the state’s efforts to combat homelessness.

Kane departs DHHL Aug. 12. He was appointed a trustee of Kamehameha Schools for a term that begins Sept. 1.

He has been with the Lingle administration since Gov. Linda Lingle took office at the end of 2002.

Park’s appointment must be approved by the Hawaiian Homes Commission and confirmed by the state Senate.
