Hawaii job seekers warned of fraudulent city postings online

Advertiser Staff

The city’s Department of Human Resources today warned job seekers about fraudulent city government job announcements being posted on Craigslist.

The vacancies are being described as City and County of Honolulu jobs, but the Department of Human Resources does not post its vacancies on Craigslist.

The Honolulu Police Department has been requested to investigate the matter.

Job applicants should not provide information or respond to any city job postings on Craigslist as such information could be used for identity theft purposes.

City jobs are listed on the city’s official Web site (www.honolulu.gov/hr/) or in the daily newspapers. City job applications do not ask individuals to disclose their Social Security numbers.
