USS Chosin departs today for Western Pacific duty

Advertiser Staff

Families this morning will say goodbye to sailors of the Pearl Harbor-based USS Chosin as the guided missile cruiser departs on a scheduled Western Pacific deployment, the Navy said.

Chosin, which will join up with the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, is commanded by Capt. Timothy Smith, and has a crew of about 340 officers and enlisted personnel.

The aircraft carrier Nimitz and its embarked carrier air wing left San Diego on July 31.
