Perez rolls to Army Invitational victory

Ryan Perez of 'Ewa Beach shot a 2-under-par 70 yesterday for a five-shot victory at the U.S. Army Hawai'i Amateur Invitational Golf Tournament at Leilehua Golf Course.

Perez, a former University of Hawai'i golfer, led after all three rounds en route to a 7-under 209.

Frank Marcus shot a 71 and Spen cer Shishido a 69 to tie for second at 214. Sean Maekawa was fourth at 217 after a 73, followed by Matthew Ma (75) at 219.

CORPUZ TOPS AT U.S. KIDS

Waipahu's Allisen Corpuz shot a 66 yesterday to win the 11-year-old girls division of the U.S. Kids Championship at Pinehurst, N.C.

Corpuz, who won the 9-year-old division two years ago, finished with a 212 total. She shot 74 and 72 in the first two rounds.

In the 7-under age group, Honolulu's Millburn Ho tied for 17th after a 42—125 (nine holes).

Among the boys, Honolulu's Nicolas Tanaka (40—117) tied for 25th in the 6-under age division and Donny Hopoi of 'Aiea tied for 24th among the 12-year-olds after a 75—226.

Wailuku's Nathaniel Idica (78) and Honolulu's Trevor Arashiro (75) tied for 35th at 232 in the 10's. Honolulu's Kyle Suppa (79—231) tied for 43rd and Sian Rogers (77—235) tied for 59th in the 11's.

HAWAI'I TRAILS IN EL CAJON

Eimi Koga shot a 5-over-par 77 yesterday and was tied for seventh after the first round of the Mary Cave Cup at Sycuan Resort's Willow Glen Course in El Cajon, Calif.

Hawai'i has two teams in the competition. Nani Yanagi (80, T18 place) and Ciera Min (82, 23rd) were tied for eighth with a team score of 73. Koga and Brittany Fan (84, 24th) were 13th. Southern California No. 2 led after a 69.

Tj Kliebiphat has a two-stroke lead in the individual competition after a 72.

Hawai'i is the defending champion.

The tournament ends today.
