The 'Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai'i in Hilo is offering half-off admission every Sunday this month.

Each Sunday in August, the 'Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai'i, in Hilo, is offering half-off admission. Explore exhibits, planetarium shows with 3-D stereoscopic capabilities, and Science on a Sphere, which gives visitors a new perspective of the Earth and Moon.

Imiloa explores the stars through the lenses of both Hawaiian culture and astronomy offering educational exhibits, including Origins, with perspectives on where we come from, and Voyages, exploring how discoveries have been made in the past with canoes and now with technology. The center's award-winning landscaping features a native Hawaiian ecosystem.

Sunday admission will be $8.75, $4.75 for ages 4-12, and free for children under 4. Kama'aina rates are also available.

Admission includes two planetarium shows and admission to all Imiloa's exhibits and gardens.

NATURE AT NIAULANI: Experience nature: "Niaulani Nature Walk" is a one-hour nature walk through a lush portion of an old-growth Hawaiian rain forest on an easy, 1/7-mile loop trail. The walk introduces individuals, families and groups to the native plants and birds of Volcano. Guides focus on the biological, ecological and geological features of the area, and also the cultural use of flora and fauna by Native Hawaiians. 9:30 a.m. on Mondays.
