Public invited to participate in walk to commemorate 9/11

The fourth annual Mayor's Remembrance walk takes place on Sept. 6 and the public is invited to participate in the acknowledgment of the terrorist attacks that occurred Sept. 11, 2001 and to honor those who put their lives at risk to save others.

The walk begins at 6:30 p.m. at the entrance of the Honolulu Police Department's Alapai headquarters on South Beretania Street.

Participants will walk around the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center and around parts of Kaka'ako. There will be short ceremonies and wreath presentations at the Honolulu Police Department headquarters and the Honolulu Fire Department headquarters. A formal program will also be held at Honolulu Hale.

Participants are asked to bring flashlights and gather at the entrance of the Honolulu Police Department headquarters by 6:30 p.m.

Parking is available at the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center parking structure. Call the Mayor's Office of Culture and the Arts at 768-6622 for more information.
