Tube Notes: 'Rescue Me,' 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' and 'Better Off Ted'

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEES

“RESCUE ME,” 7 P.M., FX

This is the night for Lou to get married and Tommy to get befuddled. There are the great scenes – long, sprawling, with acerbic dialog spilling out of talented actors – “Rescue Me” is known for.
One involves Lou (John Scurti) and Tommy (Denis Leary), who was going to be the best man until he started spouting that Lou really shouldn't marry the same woman who once stole his money. The others involve, directly and indirectly, a mystery woman, wonderfully played by Maura Tierney.
After her apartment building burned, she's on the make for firemen. She tried Franco, switched to Mike, now tries Tommy's young nephew.
That puts her in a superb scene with Tommy – and propels him to another with Sheila (Callie Thorne), his sometimes-lover and his cousin's widow.

“WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE ” (7 P.M.) AND “BETTER OFF TED” (8 AND 8:30 P.M.), ABC

ABC is using its “Millionaire” marathon to shows off some interesting shows. Here are the season's final new episodes of “Ted,” a quirky comedy set in a high-tech company.
In the first, Ted (Jay Harrington) appeases Linda (Andrea Anders) with a project that doesn't exist; soon, everyone wants to be part of it. In the second, a new invention reveals a secret life of the buttoned-down Veronica (Portia de Rossi).
