Pearl City man arrested after bad check is spotted

Advertiser Staff

A Pearl City man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly tried to cash a counterfeit check at a check cashing business near the corner of Kamehameha Highway and Lehua Avenue.

The man presented the check to a teller about 5:30 p.m. and tried to have it cashed, police said. The teller noticed the routing number did not match the issuing bank and found other discrepancies.
Police were called and arrested the man on suspicion of second-degree forgery. The check cashing business is just down the street from the Pearl City police sub-station.
