In a decision inspired by Fresno State officials, the kickoff times will be moved up an hour for the University of Hawai'i's four Western Athletic Conference football games at Aloha Stadium this season.
The games against Boise State, Fresno State, New Mexico State and Utah State now will start at 5:05 p.m.
In March, citing the expense of staying an extra night in Hawai'i, Fresno State requested moving the usual 6:05 p.m. start to 3 p.m. The request was denied because of the conflict with the swap meet held on Saturdays.
But under a new Aloha Stadium agreement, the swap meet will not be held on the same day as UH home games.
UH athletic director Jim Donovan then decided to offer the 5:05 kickoff to Fresno State, giving the Bulldogs enough time to catch a redeye flight to the West Coast after the game.
After Fresno State agreed, Donovan made the same offer to the three other WAC opponents that will travel to Hawai'i this season.
UH's Sept. 4 opener against Central Arkansas will start at 7.
