University of Hawai‘i middle linebacker Brashton Satele has been diagnosed with a torn left labrum.

Satele said he will have surgery next week in Los Angeles. He is expected to miss the 2009 season.
Satele injured his left shoulder during practice last Saturday.
He said he will gather information and will apply for a medical hardship that will allow him to play as a sixth-year senior in 2010.
He cannot apply for the hardship until after the 2009 season is finished.
