Clay Marzo of Maui won the Quiksilver Pro Puerto Escondido men's surfing contest today in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico.

Marzo, 19, dominated the four-man final with a two-wave score of 17.5. Runner-up Junior Faria of Brazil had a two-wave score of 11.5.

Marzo received a score of 8.25 (out of 10) for his opening wave, then secured the win with a near-perfect 9.25 late in the heat.

"I was a little worried because it was a little mixed up out there," Marzo said. "I got that first score and was able to relax enough to get the other one."

Marzo received $7,000 for the victory. The contest was part of surfing's World Qualifying Series, which offers points toward qualifying for the 2010 ASP World Tour.
