Rosie's Cantina to close after 28 years

Advertiser Staff

Rosie’s Cantina, a Mexican restaurant that’s been a mainstay of Haleiwa’s food scene, will close Sunday after 28 years in business.

The 70-seat restaurant said it could not renew its lease at the Haleiwa Town Center and was unable to find another location.
Luis Silva of Luibueno Catering said his firm will take over the 2,000-square-foot space with plans to remodel and open Luibueno’s Mexican Seafood and Fish Market by December.
Silva said he hopes to expand the seating with outdoor tables along the Kamehameha Highway side of the restaurant along with offering a menu featuring local seafood and Spanish tapas.
