Man returns home in the midst of it being burglarized

A Mililani man returned home from work Monday to find his home being burglarized, scaring away one intruder and contributing to the arrest of an apparent accomplice, police said.

The man, 45, told police he found a strange truck in his driveway about 5 p.m. with a teenage girl standing nearby.

He said the girl got in the truck, honked the horn and tried to drive away, but he had blocked the driveway with his vehicle.

Moments later, the man said, male exited his home and jumped over a fence.

The resident went into his house and found it had been ransacked and that items had been taken.

Police were called and arrested the girl on suspicion of first-degree burglary as well as unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle because the truck had been reported as stolen.
