Saint Louis recycling event to benefit sports program

Residents can drop off their junk, from scrap metal to old computers, Saturday at Saint Louis School to be recycled.

The event, to benefit the school's athletics program, runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school parking lot at 3142 Wai'alae Ave.

Recyclable items that will be accepted include scrap metal (including auto parts, bicycles, and metal appliances), newspaper and cardboard, telephone books, beverage containers, old tires, athletic shoes, green waste, batteries, cell phones, printer cartridges, computers (one per car), cooking oil and used eyeglasses.

Reuseable household items will be donated to Goodwill Industries.

Paints, hazardous fluids, microwaves, televisions and gas tanks will not be accepted.
