O'ahu's oldest miniature golf course has a new owner, new turf and new private party areas. Today, however, the party is public as Bay View Mini-Putt celebrates its grand reopening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The open house includes free mini-putt on the two renovated 18-hole outdoor courses, balloons, refreshments, airbrush face and body painting, and prizes and goodies at select holes and throughout the property. Entertainment will be provided by Gregg Hammer and Island 98.5, the Marine Forces Pacific Band and Hawaii Matsuri Taiko.

USA Today named the Kane'ohe mini-putt facility one of the top miniature golf courses in the nation in 2006 and new owner Kenn Yuen said a lot of TLC has been put into the property to make it a more attractive venue for special events, as well as to improve its Pali and Likelike courses: Pali is described on the Web site as enjoyable, Likelike as "deceptively challenging."

Bay View Mini-Putt is part of the Bay View Golf Park, which has an 18-hole executive-length golf course, a covered double-decker driving range and a restaurant. After the grand reopening, the hours will be 3 to 10 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekends, holidays and school vacations. An 18-hole round costs $10 to $20, with discounts for children, military, seniors, police, firefighters and groups.
