Little League: Batchelor leads Mass. past Ky., 12-3

Associated Press

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Austin Batchelor homered and scored three runs, and Peabody, Mass., used a nine-run third inning Tuesday to pull away from Russellville, Ky., in a 12-3 win at the Little League World Series.

Batchelor also doubled and had two RBIs, including one in a third inning in which Massachusetts smacked seven hits and sent 12 batters to the plate.
On the mound, Batchelor struck out seven and allowed five hits over five innings for the win.
Traverse Briana added two hits and scored two runs for Massachusetts.
Winless Kentucky had its only lead of the game after Ian Woodall’s RBI single drove in Matt Harper in the first.
Both teams completed pool play having already been eliminated from contention.
