Tube Notes: 'Rescue Me,' 'Shaq Vs.'

Advertiser Staff

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEES

“RESCUE ME,” 7 P.M., FX

There are only two episodes left in what has been a superb season.
Tonight, a failed rescue attempt leaves everyone despondent. Tommy – who's been giving in to his alcoholism lately – tries to clear his mind by tending bar.
Also, it's time for the big fight that the guys have money on. They're betting on Franco to beat a tough, female boxer.

“SHAQ VS.,” 8 P.M., ABC

Shaquille O'Neal seems to be taking on an impossible challenge. In last week's opener (rerunning at 8 p.m.), he tried to out-quarterback Ben Roethlisberger; tonight, he faces Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh in beach volleyball.
Sure, he'll have help. Todd Rogers, an Olympic gold-medalist, is his coach and partner; Serena Williams, the tennis great, offers advice.
And the guys have a height advantage. They're 7-foot-1 and 6-2; the women are 6-3 (Walsh) and 5-9.
Still, last year these women were the world's greatest athletes on dry land. They won the Olympic gold and at one point had a 112-match winning streak; that's big, even by Shaq standards.
