Obama aide to speak before Native Hawaiians

Advertiser Staff

HONOLULU — Obama administration aide Kal Penn is to speak Thursday before a gathering of Native Hawaiians and collect ideas from the group on how to improve conditions in their communities.

Penn is taking a break from Hollywood to work as an associate director in the Office of Public Liaison. He focuses on connecting Obama with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities, as well as arts groups.
Penn is set to speak to the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, which is meeting in Honolulu.
The group is asking members to complete a survey with three suggestions on how to better Native Hawaiian communities.
