“Emancipated,” an event sponsored by The Pacific Alliance to Stop Slavery and new Chinatown coffeship/lounge The Manifest, is planned to raise awareness and build opposition to human trafficking in Hawaii, 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday at The Manifest, 32 North Hotel St.
Live music, film, a full bar, interactive information and opportunities to get involved will be featured. Funds raised will support organizations that support survivors. The event is for those over 21 years old.
The event is free; donations are accepted.
Formed in January 2009, the Pacific Alliance to Stop Slavery is a coalition of secular and faith-based groups based in Hawaii who share the common mission to educate the public about the growing problem of human trafficking, advocate for the passage of local state legislation to illegalize sex-trafficking and to ensure the enforcement of such legislation.
