Track and field: Isinbayeva breaks pole vault world record

Associated Press

ZURICH — Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia has broken her pole vault record again with a leap of 16 feet, 7 1/4 inches.

She set her latest record Friday on her first attempt at the Weltklasse meet. Her previous mark of 16-6fl came a year ago at the Beijing Games when she won her second Olympic gold medal.
Isinbayeva has broken the outdoor and indoor marks 27 times. She lost her title at the world championships in Berlin last week when she failed to clear a height.
