The University of Hawaii Board of Regents Thursday night approved the appointment of Dr. Michele Carbone to serve as the next director of UH-Manoa’s Cancer Research Center of Hawaii.

Carbone was selected after an 8-month search process that yielded four finalist candidates.
He was interim director since last November and established a cooperative, matrix-managed model that synergizes the efforts of the Cancer Research Center, John A. Burns School of Medicine, clinical care providers, local hospitals and private support groups.
