Charges dropped in beating

Advertiser Staff

Attempted murder charges have been dismissed against three men charged last year after a man was beaten in Wahiawa with baseball and cricket bats.

Walter Rodby, attorney for one of the defendants, said the charges were dismissed after his client gave a statement implicating a fourth suspect and passed a lie detector test administered by police.

Originally charged in the case were Rodby's client, Logovii Talo, 24. Also charged were Fetuli M. Vakameilalo, 21, and Faiwa Sione, 25.

Circuit Judge Karen Ahn dismissed the charges against all three men yesterday at the request of the prosecutor's office.

The victim, Rooney Racoma, 20, was allegedly hit on the head and found unconscious by police on California Avenue in June 2008.

Police had responded to reports of 20 to 30 men and women fighting in the area with bats.
