Robert Kazoo Inouye, 77, senator's younger brother

Services will be held Saturday for Robert Kazoo Inouye, 77, younger brother of U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, D-Hawai'i.

Robert Inouye, of Honolulu, died Aug. 18.

Born in Honolulu, Inouye was a retired executive for Continental Insurance Agency of Hawaii and Atlas Insurance Agency. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.

Last week, Sen. Inouye was in Honolulu but was preparing to fly back to Washington to attend the services for his longtime colleague, U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Inouye spoke to reporters and reflected on the deaths of his brother and Kennedy.

"I'm the oldest (84), so, the honcho," Inouye said. "He was, as a young brother, my favorite. This is sad times to see old friends saying goodbye. ... None of us walk on water. The day will come for all of us."

Robert Inouye is survived by his wife, Blanche; son, Mark; daughters, Susan, Diane and Mary; five grandchildren; brothers Daniel and John; sister, May Tomita.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. on Saturday at Harris United Methodist Church; service of celebration at 5:30 p.m. No flowers. Aloha attire. Arrangements by Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
