Suspect in car break-in and theft arrested in Kailua

Advertiser Staff

A 46-year-old homeless man was arrested yesterday in Kailua after items that were allegedly stolen from a car were found in his vehicle.

Police said an officer was on routine patrol about 1:30 p.m. in an area known for car thefts when he saw a man walking between parked cars. The officer watched as the man got into his car and sped off.
The officer pulled the man over near the intersection of Auloa Road and Lunaai Street, and learned a car break-in had just been reported nearby.
The officer then arrested the driver for suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.
