University of Hawai‘i Rainbow baseball coach Mike Trapasso added four recruits, Collin Bennett, Zach Gallagher, David Freitas and Blair Walters, to the 2010 recruiting class, giving Hawai‘i 10 that have enrolled in school this fall.

Bennett, an outfielder from Tacoma Community College (Wash.), comes in as a sophomore after earning first team All-Northwest Athletic Association of Community College honors in 2009. He carried a .391 batting average, adding 22 RBI, 27 runs, five homers and nine doubles.

Gallagher, a pitcher from Columbia Basin (Wash.), was also a first team All-NWAACC honoree, while also earning NWAACC Eastern Division MVP honors in 2009. He went 11-1 in 2009 with a 1.08 ERA in 92.0 innings pitched. He also had 86 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .171 batting average.

Freitas, a catcher from Cosumnes River College (Calif.), was a 2009 Northern California All-America team honoree. He also earned All-Big 8 conference honors during both seasons that he played at Cosumnes. He led the team in batting (.333), home runs (nine), RBI (43) and runs (36) in 2009. Freitas chose UH over Southern California and Kentucky.

Walters, a two-way player from Ventura College (Calif.), earned All-Western State North first team honors in 2009. The lefty finished the season with a 5-4 record in 78.2 innings, striking out 51 with a 3.43 ERA. At the plate, he batted .316 with 44 runs and 32 RBI.

Bennett and Gallagher were late signees, while Freitas and Walters both signed in July. Derek Brown and Kalani Brackenridge also enrolled in school. Brown was a Northwest Herald All-Area second team player while Brackenridge was a 44th round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2009 MLB Draft.
