V-J Day observance Wednesday on Mighty Mo

Advertiser Staff

In honor of all U.S. war veterans, the Battleship Missouri Memorial will hold a ceremony commemorating the 64th anniversary of the end of World War II at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

The program titled “The End of the War in the Pacific” is free and open to the public.
This will be the last ceremony on the Missouri before the battleship is drydocked in Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard for a period of up to three months starting in early October for hull repairs and repainting.
The “Mighty Mo” was the site of Japan’s formal surrender on Sept. 2, 1945 in Tokyo Bay.
