Big Island police investigating home-invasion robbery

Big Island police yesterday said they are investigating a reported home-invasion robbery that took place in Pahoa early in the morning on Sept. 8.

Puna Patrol officers were dispatched to an Alapai Street home in the Leilani Estates subdivision, where a 26-year-old woman reported that an unknown man entered her home and demanded marijuana. The suspect physically beat the victim and then left the home with undisclosed personal belongings. police said.

The suspect wore a mask, but is described as about 6 feet tall with green eyes and tan skin.

The victim was treated at Hilo Medical Center for her injuries and released.

Detectives assigned to the Police Department's Area I Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation.
