The Maui Fire Department ended its search yesterday for missing Hana residents Carl and Rae Lindquist who were last seen Thanksgiving evening.

Although the official search is over, members of the community plan to continue looking for the couple. Those interested in helping with the search are asked to call Dawn Lono at 248-7723.
The Lindquists, both 75, are believed to have died while driving home after having Thanksgiving dinner at the Hotel Hana Maui. Their badly damaged sport utility vehicle was found Saturday about 200 yards downstream from Ulaino Road.
After three days of searching by air and on the ground, firefighters found no trace of the couple.
Yesterday's search was concentrated near the shoreline and riverbed where the SUV was found.
“The river’s volume of water from heavy rainfall and the water’s swiftness are factors being considered in the disappearance of the couple who live in the Ulaino area,” Maui officials said yesterday.
