State libraries to close on 15 furlough days

Beginning Dec. 16, full-time employees of Hawaiçi’s public libraries will begin taking 15 unpaid furlough days because of a new agreement with the Hawaii Government Employees Association, library officials announced today.
The furlough days mean that all public libraries will be closed on Dec. 16, 24, 31; Jan. 13, 27; Feb. 3, 10; and March 5, 12, 19.

In addition to those dates, six public libraries that are normally closed on Fridays — çAiea, Hawaiçi Kai, Kaimuki, Liliha, Manoa, and Makawao on Maui — will also be closed on March 4, 11, 18; April 7, 14, 21; and May 5, 19.
