Traffic victim identified as Honolulu woman

Advertiser Staff

A woman who died after she was struck by an SUV at the entrance to the Don Quijote store on Kaheka Street Tuesday has been identified as Sue Sawamoto of Honolulu.

The city medical examiner said Sawamoto, 84, died of head injuries.
Sawamoto was walking in the makai direction when she was hit by an Isuzu Rodeo as its 68-year-old driver was making a right turn into the store’s parking lot, police said. The woman was taken to The Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, but she later died.
The driver was not injured, police said.
