Advertiser Staff

Honolulu's city auditor, Leslie Tanaka, will retire at the end of the year, the Office of the City Auditor announced yesterday.

Tanaka was Honolulu's first independent city auditor; he was appointed to the position in July 2003. He said is looking forward to traveling more with his wife and helping care for his 91-year-old father.

Tanaka said accomplishments of his office over the past six years include completing 24 performance audits, overseeing the city's annual financial audit for the past six years and winning a national award for his road maintenance audit in 2006.
