High surf this morning to diminish

Advertiser Staff

A northwest swell is responsible for larger waves this morning but will slowly diminish today and tomorrow.

But another large northwest swell arriving Saturday is expected to bring even bigger surf that exceeds warning levels.
Today surf along the north facings shores on Oçahu will be 16 to 24 feet this morning then slowly fall to 12 to 18 feet. Surf will continue to decrease tomorrow with 6- to 10-foot heights.
On east facing shores waves today are expected at 2 to 4 feet and will diminish to 1 to 3 feet tomorrow.
West facing shores will be 10 to 14 feet this morning and lower to 8 to 12 feet today with 4 to 8 feet heights tomorrow.
South shore waves should come in at the 2- to 4-foot level today and 3- to 5-foot tomorrow.
Surf heights estimates are of the front of the wave and are averaged. Some of the waves may be more than twice as high as the average. People can expect rip currents in or near any surf zone.
