High-wind warning for Big Island summits

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service in Honolulu said a high-wind warning is in effect until noon today for Big Island summits and there is a wind advisory for the summit of Haleakala.

Southwest winds continue to blow over the Big Island and Haleakala summits at 40 mph to 50 mph though the winds are forecast to subside later today as the front weakens.
Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage, the weather service said.
