Skiing: Tino Edelmann wins Nordic Combined World Cup event

LILLEHAMMER, Norway — Tino Edelmann of Germany has won his first Nordic Combined World Cup event by beating Anssi Koivuranta of Finland.

Edelmann took the lead after 7.5 kilometers of Sunday's 10K individual race, pulling away at an uphill stretch in the final section. He ended the race 2.2 seconds faster than Koivuranta. Lamy Chappuis of France finished third, 2.3 seconds back.

Wilhelm Denifl of Austria led after the ski jump in the combined event but was caught by Koivuranta in the first kilometer of the race and ended up 14th.

Chappuis leads the overall standings with 305 points, while Edelmann moves up from fifth to second with 254. Eric Frenzel of Germany is third with 225 points.
