NBA: Blazers F Fernandez has procedure on back

Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Trail Blazers forward Rudy Fernandez is undergoing a procedure to alleviate nerve pressure that is causing leg pain.

Fernandez is set to have a microdiscectomy Tuesday to relieve pressure on a nerve in his back. A timetable for his recovery will be determined after the procedure.
The pressure on his nerve is causing Fernandez pain in his right leg.
Fernandez is averaging 8.6 points, 2.2 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 23.3 minutes a game.
The Blazers are already without center Greg Oden (knee, out for year), starter Nic Batum (preseason shoulder surgery), top-scoring reserve Travis Outlook (broken foot, out 3-5 months), and its coach Nate McMillan (Achillies).
