Golf: Wie shoots 69 in first round of Omega Dubai Women's Masters, trails by 3

Michelle Wie shot a 3-under-par 69 Wednesday to share fifth place after the first round of the Omega Dubai Women's Masters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The 20-year-old Stanford student from Honolulu had five birdies and two bogies at the par-72, 6,412-yard Emirates Golf Course.
Leader Maria Hjorth of Sweden shot a 6-under 66 for a two-shot lead in the Ladies European Tour event. Titiya Plucksataporn of Thailand, Amy Yang of South Korea and Julieta Granada of Paraguay were tied for second at 4-under 68.
Minea Blomqvist of Finland and Virginie Lagoutte-Clement of France matched Wie's opening 69.
The 72-hole tournament ends Saturday.
