Dean Wilson got an early birthday and Christmas present when he received a sponsor's exemption to the Sony Open in Hawai'i, a day after another local pro, Tadd Fujikawa, got one.

The event is the PGA Tour's first full-field event of the 2010 season and will be held at the Waialae Country Club on Jan. 14 to 17.

Wilson, a Castle alum who turns 40 on Dec. 17, needs sponsor's exemptions next year after losing his PGA card when he finished 152nd on the money list.

Wilson earned $442,600, his lowest total since joining the PGA Tour full time in 2003. He missed the cut in 13 of 29 events, including this year's Sony Open, and his best finish was a tie for 13th in the Verizon Herita.
